How Radish works

How Radish turns a grocery receipt into useful history.

Scan a paper receipt with the in-app camera, check the items, and save. Your reviewed purchases become searchable history and category totals. Manual entry is available; no bank connection is needed.

Radish Receipts on iPhone showing store groups, monthly totals, and search for stores or items.

Available in the US and UK App Stores. Requires iOS 18 or later. Apple shows availability for your Apple Account before downloading.

The complete job

Capture, check, save, then use the history.

Add a receipt, check the draft, and confirm it. Only confirmed receipts feed search and spending views.

Step 1 · Start the receipt

Choose a photo scan or enter it by hand.

Photo scan

Select up to four receipt photos. Before the first scan, Radish asks permission to send those selected photos through its receipt-processing service to OpenAI.

Manual entry

Add the store, date, total, and items yourself. This remains available when you decline scanning or when the receipt is outside the current English-language US and UK receipt boundary with USD and GBP totals.

Input boundary: the current release does not advertise automatic email, bank, retailer-account, PDF, screenshot, or photo-library receipt imports.

Steps 2 and 3 · Draft and review

Scanning proposes a record. You decide what gets saved.

01

Draft

Radish reads the selected receipt.

The scan proposes item names, prices, categories, and a total. Nothing is saved at this stage.

02

Review

You check the proposed record.

Correct the store, date, total, item details, categories, and household choices before confirming the receipt.

03

History

The confirmed items join the month.

Only saved receipts contribute to monthly, category, and household totals. Set a monthly budget locally on this iPhone, or share a PDF from the selected month’s report. Budgets are not included in household sync.

Essential and optional begin as editable suggestions. The saved value is the household’s confirmed choice—not a nutrition score, moral judgment, or universal rule.

Step 4 · Use the saved record

A confirmed receipt becomes more useful than a paper total.

Find a purchase

Search store names, item names, or original item text, then open the underlying saved receipt.

Browse by month and store

Receipts group by store and currency with receipt counts and same-currency totals. Missing receipts remain missing.

Correct the history

Open a saved receipt to edit details and items. The saved correction becomes the household record.

Review item, category, store, monthly, and household-confirmed essential or optional totals from the receipts you saved.

Step 5 · Keep control

Edit, delete, export, or share deliberately.

  1. 1
    Edit a saved receipt.

Correct its details and line items when the saved record needs attention.

  2. 2
    Delete the intended layer.

Deleting saved history is separate from receipt-service data, analytics, iCloud copies, and Apple purchase records.

  3. 3
    Export item-level CSV.

Export the complete saved history when you need to inspect it elsewhere. The file is not a Radish restore file.

  4. 4
    Invite one other iPhone.

An explicit QR can share grocery data across the supported two-iPhone household. Subscription access is separate.

Current effort and limits

Radish still needs a receipt and a careful review.

  • Recognition quality and correction burden are not yet measured in Radish’s public field benchmark.
  • Blurry, folded, long, or unusual receipts can need corrections. Receipts outside the English-language US and UK grocery boundary with USD or GBP totals may need manual entry.
  • The view is incomplete when receipts are missing, duplicated, incorrectly dated, or saved with uncorrected values.
  • Radish is for iPhone on iOS 18 or later; it does not currently promise Android, iPad-only, exchange-rate, accounting, tax, nutrition, coupon, or meal-planning workflows.
  • A newly onboarded empty household can save three receipts before choosing a plan. See pricing and trial details.

How Radish works FAQ

Does Radish need a bank login?

No. Radish builds its grocery view from receipts you choose to scan or enter manually. It does not connect to a bank account or transaction feed.

Does Radish save a scan automatically?

No. A scan creates an editable proposal. You review the receipt details and line items before confirming the receipt.

Can I use Radish without sending receipt photos?

Yes. You can decline or disable receipt-photo processing and add receipts manually. Photo scanning remains unavailable until you explicitly allow it.

What can I do with saved receipts?

You can search saved receipts by store or item, open and edit a receipt, delete one or all receipts, review monthly and category views, and export the complete saved item-level history as CSV.

Which devices and receipts does Radish support?

Radish requires iOS 18 or later and is optimized for English-language US and UK grocery receipts with USD and GBP totals. Manual entry remains available when a receipt is outside that scan boundary.
