The monthly view starts with reviewed items. You can correct the draft and choose essential, optional, or excluded before confirming it.

How receipt tracking becomes a monthly view

  1. Add a grocery receipt. Scan up to four photos, or add the receipt by hand.
  2. Review the draft. Check the store, date, total, item names, prices, and categories.
  3. Make the household choices. Mark matching item families essential, optional, or excluded from spending.
  4. Confirm the receipt. Radish includes the reviewed items in the matching month and category totals.

This is receipt-based tracking. A store transaction alone cannot show which products or categories changed.

What the grocery expense view summarizes

  • Selected month: switch between months with saved receipt history.
  • Reviewed total: the combined spending represented by confirmed receipts in that month.
  • Receipt count: how many saved receipts make up the selected month.
  • Category totals: the reviewed item amounts grouped into categories such as beverages, seafood, dairy, or fruit.
  • Essential or optional split: the amounts created from your household’s saved item-family choices.

Essential and optional are your definitions.

Radish does not decide whether milk, snacks, a specialty ingredient, or any other item is necessary for your household. You make that choice while reviewing an item.

A choice can apply to matching items on future receipts, and you can change it. You can also exclude a matching item family from spending when it should not be part of the grocery view.

What this tracker does not claim

  • A month is incomplete when some grocery receipts are missing, dated incorrectly, or not confirmed.
  • Recognition and category suggestions can be wrong, so the review step remains part of the workflow.
  • Essential and optional totals reflect household choices; they are not financial advice or universal labels.
  • Radish summarizes receipt history. It does not predict future prices, set a recommended budget, import every bank transaction, or promise savings.

Yes. Radish summarizes saved grocery items by their reviewed categories, so you can see which categories make up the month instead of seeing only store transactions.

Who decides whether grocery spending is essential or optional?

Your household does. Essential and optional are editable household choices, not judgments made by Radish. You can also exclude a matching item family from spending.

Can I correct a receipt before it changes the spending totals?

Yes. Review the proposed store, date, total, item names, prices, categories, and essential or optional choices before confirming the receipt.

Is Radish a grocery budget or spending forecast?
