What the grocery receipt scanner proposes
Radish can propose the following fields from the receipt. They remain draft values until you confirm them.
- Receipt details: store, date, and printed total.
- Item details: product name and line price.
- Likely category: for example, seafood, dairy, produce, or beverages.
- Math check: whether the proposed items add up with the receipt total.
How to fix a scan before saving
- Compare the proposed store, date, and total with the printed receipt.
- Edit an item name, price, or category when the proposal is wrong.
- Mark matching item families essential or optional for your household, or exclude a line from spending.
- Confirm only after the item list and total make sense.
Radish does not treat recognition as certainty. The review step is part of the product workflow, not an error screen you see only when scanning fails.
Scanning limits to expect
- You can submit up to four receipt photos for one scan.
- Folded, cropped, blurred, faded, handwritten, very long, or unusually formatted receipts can produce incomplete or incorrect drafts.
- Taxes, discounts, multipacks, weighted items, deposits, coupons, and abbreviated store wording may need review.
- Scanning depends on device support, iOS version, language, free storage, network, model, and service availability.
If scanning is unavailable or the draft is not useful, use Add by hand. Radish does not require scanning to save a receipt.
Receipt scanning without a bank connection
Radish reads only the receipt photos you choose to submit. It does not connect to a bank account or import a transaction feed.
Before the first scan, Radish asks for permission to send up to four receipt photos through its Cloudflare-hosted receipt-processing service to OpenAI. The service also uses security metadata and a subscription or device proof to protect usage limits. You review the returned draft before saving it.
